Thursdays bet on Rumh was disappointing in group two Ribbledale stakes and appeared not to stay 1 mile 4 furlongs in testing ground ,after travelling OK in early part of the race, seem to stop very quickly two furlongs out finishing well beaten 6TH behind the Jim Bolger trained Banimpire.
To be honest I wasn't expecting ground conditions to change so drastically ,though in hindsight placing the bet the night before was probably mistake with plenty rain forecast.Loss on the day £222 .
On to Royal Ascot day four, ground conditions are going to be even more testing on Friday with more heavy showers forecast . With this in mind I'm Going concentrate on the group two 1 mile 4 furlong King Edward VII stakes at 3.05
1 MILE 4F KING EDWARD VII STAKES GROUP 2 ASCOT 3.05
NATHANIEL :Ran excellent second last time in group 3 Chester Vase only beaten head behind Subsequent Epsom Derby runner up Treasure Beach ,appeared unsuited by the tight track that day and did well to finish so close. Will be much better suited to this more galloping track with ground conditions ideal .
VERDICT : NATHANIEL a late withdrawal from Epsom Derby when conditions were considered too fast, should relish these soft ground conditions at Ascot on Friday ,the form of his second in Chester Vase looks very strong and looks the one to beat in this group two contest.11-4 looks very fair price. The two main dangers look to be Glens Choice and Mijhaar both improving types who have to be respected.

Hi Jerry
ReplyDeleteI just checked the results and then watched the race. Great selection, he won with plenty to spare.
Looks like your right back on form which is great because I will be following again from Monday.
Keep up the good work.
