The first day of the York festival doesn't look easy with some very difficult handicaps that don't really interest me for betting purposes .
The two feature races G1 Juddmonte international & G2 Great Voltiguer stakes both look very interesting races .
1M 4F GREAT VOLTIGEUR STAKES GROUP 2 YORK 3.05
SEA MOON :Smart prospect winning his last two starts .won well here last time in class 2 handicap over 1 mile 2 furlongs off mark 92 .Will be suited by step up in trip and looks open to plenty improvement .
VERDICT : Interesting St Leger trial with three main contenders .Nambian,Sea Moon & Seville.
Nambian : Tough sort, not stopped improving all year winning his last two starts at Ascot & Goodwood battled all the way to line last time when beating M.Stoute trained Fiorente in group 3 Gordon stakes at Glorious Goodwood over this distance ,this looks tougher race though can't ruled out.
Seville : Is clearly the one to beat after finishing second in Irish Derby & G1 Grand Prix De Paris ,though with only one win from seven starts, finishing second 5 times.Looks bit short in market around 5-4.
SEA MOON will need to improve to win this race group two contest ,though looks open to plenty improvement over this longer trip .Trainer Sir Michael Stoute has excellent record in race and looks good each-way value at 7-2 against the short price favourite.
SEA MOON 3.05 YORK (WINNER SP 11-2)

I'm surprised you've gone for Sea Moon Jerry but best of luck with it. Think the value lies with some of the longer priced horses.
ReplyDeleteNice one Jerry; had a BOG ew, I generally stay away from betting at this meeting!
ReplyDeleteWell done Jerry.
ReplyDeleteI place-laid SEA MOON.
Yep echo here well done Jerry great bet. A few of us non-believers ended up with egg on the face!
ReplyDeleteThanks for kind words ,just thought Sea Moon would be big improver over longer trip ,though still cant believe it went off as big as 11-2.
