On Friday we are off to Chester, for interesting looking three year old sprint handicap at 3.40 .
8 runners declared for decent looking 5 furlong three year old handicap at Chester ,on ground described as good . The three main contenders look to be Kachy , El Astronaute & Birdcage .
KACHY :Highly Promising 2-Y-0 ,Winning first two starts , including winning maiden over C&D .Also won the group three Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood in August .Looked very disappointing on seasonal reappearance ,when finishing last of 7 in Free Handicap at Newmarket over 7F . Needs to bounce back ,though will be suited returning to this shorter trip
EL ASTRONAUTE : Progressive 2-Y-0 ,winning 3 out 8 last season ,including winning handicap over C&D in September . Bit disappointing on seasonal reappearance ,when finishing fourth of 6 at Thirsk in 5F handicap ,though looked unsuited by soft ground .Will be suited by this better ground ,and looks well drawn for front runner .
BIRDCAGE : Won 2 out 6 last season for Ger Lyons ,both on poly track at Dundalk over 5F .Didn't show much on the turf in 4 starts , though has subsequently changed hands for 22,000 guineas .Has first start for Richard Fahey .Not badly treated at the weights and looks well drawn in stall 2 .
VERDICT : C&D winner EL ASTRONAUTE could take plenty catching here from stall one .Showed plenty speed when winning here in September .Can be forgiven for disappointing reappearance at Thirsk last time, on soft ground .Stills looks fairly treated off mark 89 ,and this faster ground will suit better . Odds around 7-2 look solid each-way value .
