July finished up an excellent month,with six winners from seven bets (6-1) (6-1) (3-1) (11-4) (5-2) (4-1) for 86.20 % strike rate on the month and £1316 profit .Hopefully we can continue the good run in August.
Moving quickly on to Tuesday's racing ,we have decent looking evening card in Ireland from Cork .Featuring quality looking 1M 4F group three contest .
9 runners declared for Give Thanks stakes over 1M 4F for Fillies & Mares .The three main contenders look to be Harlequeen , Shamreen & Somehow .
HARLEQUEEN : Consistent filly,winning 1 out 5 .Shown big improvement since stepping up to 1M 4F ,including finishing good third in both the English & Irish Oaks .Obvious claims dropping down in class .Seems to handle good or softer .
SHAMREEN : Improving filly ,winning 2 out 5 ,both wins at Gorwan Park over 9.5 furlongs .Finished fair 2ND over C&D in Munster Oaks last time at Cork ,behind Pretty Perfect .Will need show more improvement to land this stronger looking contest .
SOMEHOW : Won 2 out 5 ,including winning Cheshire Oaks in May. Has been disappointing on last two starts in English & Irish Oaks ,finishing well behind Harlequeen on both occasions . Will need bounce back in first time visor .
VERDICT : HARLEQUEEN is 7LB clear on official ratings, and stands out on form ,after finishing placed in both the English & Irish Oaks.Will be suited dropping down to group three company .Trainer Mick Channon also has good record in Ireland this season ,winning (2 out 5) Odds around 9-4 look fair value .
