MASAR : 4-Y-0 Chestnut Colt .winning 4 out 9 .Had some very useful form last season ,including finishing third in 2000 guineas and winning the Epsom Derby .Suffered leg injury on eve of the Eclipse and not raced since last June .Obvious claims on his Derby form if fully wound up .
SOUTHERN FRANCE : 4-Y-0 Irish Bay Colt ,winning 2 out 9 .Consistent sort ,had some fair form last season ,including finishing second in Queens Vase at Royal Ascot & third in St Leger at Doncaster.Also finished creditable second in Yorkshire Cup at York last time behind Stradivarius.Each-way claims ,though drop in trip not ideal .
VERDICT : Derby winner Masar looks interesing runner on his belated return from injury,has gone well fresh in past,though will need to be close to his best to land this quality group two contest .Passed over on his return .
DEFOE should go well after landing the G1 Coranation Cup last time at Epsom,that looked decent effort beating St leger winner Kew Gardens .Will be suited returning to G2 company here, recieves no penalty for winning that G1 contest .Odds around 4-1 look fair value
