Irish Champions Festival is the showcase of the Irish Flat season.
It is one of the leading international flat racing festivals, now in its ninth year, this special event is run over two days at two of Ireland’s leading racecourses, the newly redeveloped Leopardstown on 9th September and The Curragh on 10th September.
World Class Racing: Featuring prize money of €4.5 million, this year’s renewal boasts a strong programme, including six Group 1 races and the final Classic of the Irish Flat season. Irish Champions Festival will again attract many of the world’s best racehorses, owners, trainers, and jockeys.
Day 1 Racing at Leopardstown
Irish Champions Festival kicks off with a prestigious
eight-race card at Leopardstown on Saturday September 9th featuring five
Group races. The two feature races on the day are the Group 1 Royal
Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes and the Coolmore ‘Justify’ Matron Stakes.
Day 2 Racing at The Curragh
The Curragh Racecourse is home to all five Irish Classic races and is the venue for the second day of Irish Champions Festival.
Day two at the Curragh includes four Group 1 races, highlighted by the Comer Group International Irish St Leger, the final Irish Classic of the season, and the Flying Five Stakes, together with The Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes and the Moyglare Stud Stakes, two of the best juvenile races of the year which are likely to determine the champion two-year-olds in Europe once again.
